Our team of experienced and highly qualified staff deliver residential adventure trips and day activities, designed to appeal to primary and secondary schools, youth groups and corporate clients alike. Outdoor adventure activities are fantastic fun and they help build self-esteem and self-confidence, too. Our activities challenge participants to try something new, which results in a real sense of achievement and adventure.
Gilwern offers some of the best hillwalking, climbing, caving and canoeing outdoor environments you could wish to find in the UK. The River Wye, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons are all on the doorstep.
Established in 1970, thousands of children from schools all over the UK have enjoyed outdoor activity courses, field trips and adventures at our centres.
The site offers educational facilities and camping fields that are regularly used by groups like the Scouts, Guides and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition teams. There is accommodation for large groups and a hall with indoor bouldering wall and a large outdoor climbing tower. There is flat access to accommodation, a wheel chair accessible abseil ramp and braille orienteering course.
Our facilities can also be hired by other groups such as the Scouts, Guides, sports clubs, youth organisations, families and corporate groups.
The instructors have decades of experience between them so you’ll be in safe hands.
We are a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award-licensed accredited activity provider and have Green Eco Flag status. We are a Forest Schools provider too. Above all, whether you’re a teacher, parent or adult participant you can rest assured you’ll have an outdoor adventure to remember in one of the most stunning landscapes in Wales!
