Darran Park Lake is a 4 acre man-made lake set deep in the heart of the beautiful Rhondda Valley. There is a good head of Bream, some fish have gone over 5lbs mark as well as a few Tench around the 5lb bracket to be found and a stocking in 2010 of 130 Tench have boosted numbers. For the float fishermen there are Roach, Rudd and Perch to be caught. These mainly fall to maggot or casters but small pieces of bread flake can also get the Roach and Rudd excited. For the Carp anglers there are around 50 to 60 fish to be caught with plenty of high doubles and the odd 20lb fish thrown into the mix. The lake record currently stands at 26lb 4oz. Also if you fancy catching a Pike or two then you are more welcome, within the Pike fishing season. The banks of the lake are all tarmac so it is an ideal place for disabled anglers to come and fish. Tickets are available from Bailiffs on the bank or you can buy them from Dylan's Pets and Aquatics in the high street of Ferndale.
