Are you looking for unusual and engaging things to do in the Brecon Beacons National Park? Good Day Out Experience Days & Activities are perfect stress-busting ways to enjoy the lovely countryside of Mid Wales, just an hour's drive from Cardiff. Take a stroll in the company of a friendly little animal or learn about rural skills and wildlife conservation. All are small group activities, with knowledgeable, engaging, low-key trainers based in and around the beautiful Brecon Beacons. The Good Day Out walks with animals are suitable for all ages and are a great way to get close to your new little friend whilst learning about their health and welfare. Choose from: - MINI DONKEY WALKING - Good Day Out’s little Miniature Mediterranean Dinky Donkeys are full of character. Spend a couple of hours with them grooming then walking around the hill farm by their barn. The walk includes a picnic with panoramic views to Pen y Fan and the Central Beacons. The Dinkies are available for walks most days year round - individuals as well as groups can book. Shorter walks and interactive barn play sessions are also available on demand. There are also special canal Towpath Walks along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal at Pencelli, including a stop at The Royal Oak’s beer garden for refreshments for you and the mini donkeys. - PIGGY WALKS WITH A PIG-NIC - Swim with pigs in the Bahamas? Pah! Paddle with Pigs in the Brecon Beacons. Good Day Out's Pig Walks are with little Kunekune piggies who love walking along the scenic Senni Valley with their handler who lives in this idyllic hidden valley. After walking with the pigs, you are treated to an ample spread of tea, coffee and cakes at the smallholding. The pigs small in size and of steady temperament although they have big personalities. The name Kunekune means “fat and round”, so don’t expect any slender creatures! With walks year-round, the girls enjoy the interaction, and like all our experiences, the walking is actually good for their health and wellbeing so you can be sure that you can have a great time whilst enjoying their great company. - SHEEP DOG EXPERIENCE - Learn all about shepherding with a working dog with Ross Games who trains sheep dogs and regularly competes internationally at sheep dog trials. If you love One Man and His Dog, you'll love this as you will have a chance to command a working sheep dog with sheep to move them around the field! During this farm experience session, Ross will also show you some of the other livestock on this working Welsh Hill Farm. Meet their friendly cattle and sheep, as well as having interactive demostrations with a few of Ross' Welsh Border Collies at different stages of their training. -HIKE WITH A HUSKY- Take a guided walk in the Brecon Beacons with a fantastic pup and his owner. Adapted to suit you and all abilities including amazing sunrise and sunset walks if requested, and your own dog can come along if you'd like. -MINI DONKEY GAMES- Interact with our dinky donkeys in a play session where you will be shown the basics of target training and clicker training. These are behaviour-led where you will interact with our mini donkeys who enjoy these sessions enormously whether they perform as you want or not!
