Nant Moel is a fly fishing only resevoir is situated in over 12 acres of idyllic countryside at the top of the Cynon valley, between Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil. The reservoir is run by Aberdare and District Angling Association. The reservoir has easy access ramps and paths for wheelchair users to have a great day fishing or for novices to get that extra distance, and a rowing boat for full members only to use.(not available to day ticket holders). The reservoir is stocked regularly with renowned hard fighting rainbow trout averaging 2lb with many larger ones up to 7lb, with the occasional blue trout. There is a limit of two fish per day, 6 fish per week (Monday to Monday) with fly fishing only. Catch and release is also permitted if barbless hooks are used, this does however now carry a 10 fish per day limit. The season runs from February 28th to January 31st.
